<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Yakubu Dogara, Speaker, House of Representatives</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
</span><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> The former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on
Appropriation, Abdulmmumin Jibrin on Thursday exposed the fraudulent
deals perpetrated by the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara and other leaders of the
House in the passage of the 2016 budget.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Jibrin was removed on Wednesday as Chairman, Appropriation committee of the House by Dogara.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Reacting
to his removal on his twitter handle @AbdulABMJ on Thursday evening,
Jibrin revealed that his inability to admit into the 2016 budget almost
N30 billion personal requests from Speaker Yakubu Dogara and the three
other principal officers pitched him against the House leadership and
led to his decision to vacate the position.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> The Kano-born
lawmaker also clarified that he was not sacked from the position by
Dogara as reported by the media but that he stepped down for peace to
reign.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Jibrin said he is obliged to make a further statement after
listening to the full statement of Speaker Dogara on why he had to
leave as Chairman of the committee. <span style="color: red;"><b>“Speaker Dogara’s statement was a
complete misrepresentation of the facts, false, mischievous, unfair and a
calculated attempt to bring my name to disrepute, blackmail, silence
and use me as a scapegoat.” </b></span>He said.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> The lawmaker vowed to pursue
the issue and clear his name when the House resumes from recess. He
alluded to the fact that his decision to assert his independence and
insisting that the right thing be done at all times to expose corrupt
people in the House led to the campaign against him.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Full Statement By Honourable Abdulmumin Jibrin</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I
am obliged to make further statement after listening to the full
statement of Speaker Yakubu Dogara on why I had to leave as Chairman
Appropriation.</span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">It is a fact I went up to the Speaker and told him
clearly I wanted to leave. He confirmed this in his statement but it
appeared he wished he had fired me instead of my personal decision to
step down.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Thereafter I proceeded to my office. I was therefore
not surprised when an aide of mine walked into my office to inform me
that the Speaker had announced my departure.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I was relieved and went straight to address the press and released a statement.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">It was only later in the evening while monitoring the news that I watched the full statement he made on the floor.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Speaker
Dogara’s statement was a complete misrepresentation of the facts,
false, mischievous, unfair and a calculated attempt to bring my name to
disrepute, blackmail, silence and use me as a scape goat.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> The
plan is to execute it just before the recess so that by the time we
return I would have been buried and the issue forgotten.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Mr
Speaker, this issue will never be swept under the carpet. We are closing
for recess with it and we shall commence the next session with this
issue.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> This was the last option they had after every attempt to
find something to nail me failed. It is a known fact that I am a very
blunt person by nature. I don’t know how to pretend.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> I don’t do eye service neither will I ever be a sycophant. I don’t give returns. I just do my job faithfully and dedicatedly.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
My offence was asserting my independence and insisting that we do the
right thing at all times and expose corrupt people in the House.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
Lately I openly disagreed with some principal officers on the issue of
immunity for Lawmakers and budget issues. I still maintained I will
never support immunity.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> I strongly believe with every conviction
that in cleaning up the budgeting system and considering what transpired
during 2016 budget which I have all the facts documented, Speaker
Dogara, Deputy Speaker Lasun, Whip Doguwa and Minority Leader Leo Ogor
should resign.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> These members of the body of principal officers
were not comfortable with my independent disposition and my refusal to
cover up their unilateral decision to allocate to themselves N40 billion
out of the N100 billion allocated to the entire National Assembly.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
The four of them met and took that decision. In addition to billions of
wasteful projects running over N20 billion they allocated to their
constituencies. They must come out clean.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> My inability to admit
into the budget almost N30 billion personal requests from Mr. Speaker
and the 3 other principal officers also became an issue. I have every
documented evidence to this effect.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> After the submission of the
first version of the budget which was returned by Mr. President, I
briefed members in executive session and told them as agreed at our pre
budget meeting with chairmen and deputy chairmen of standing committees,
we simply adopted their reports with little amendments. Nobody faulted
my submission.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Members insisted they must know how the N100 billion was allocated. I told them the truth.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Since
after that meeting, Mr. Speaker with the support of the three other
principal officers effectively blocked me from briefing members, ensured
I was not at the last executive session and refused to investigate
issues I raised that I believe must be addressed if we intend to build a
better budget system for the House.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> I gave Mr. Speaker
statistics of 2000 new projects introduced into the budget by less than
10 committee chairmen without the knowledge of their committee members
he did nothing about it because he was part of the mess yet he is
talking about improving the budget system.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> I did nothing wrong. I
worked within the rules of the House and instructions of Mr. Speaker.
During the budget period, Mr. President graciously granted myself and
Sen. Goje audience. It was a very good meeting.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Speaker Dogara
took it extremely personal that we saw the president without his
knowledge and went on to scuttle all our efforts to help the president
during the budget process because he wanted to be seen by the president
as the only good man.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> He forgot that he sees heads of MDA’s daily
which he enjoys doing more than his job as Speaker for reasons best
known to him anyway, without Mr. President’s knowledge. That is how
petty and narrow minded Dogara can be. A coward, hypocrite and pretender
of the highest order. Mr President must be very careful with him. He
wines with Mr. President and dines with Mr. President’s enemies. I am
glad that I am finally free from his emotional blackmail of constantly
trying to make me see my appointment as appropriation chairman as a
favour.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> He has failed to realise that I came a long way and even
attained chairman finance when he was chairman House services before
this appointment. Seeing as the Speaker claimed that they have taken
the decision or were going to take a decision to replace me, he now has a
responsibility to tell the world why they took or were going to take
such decision.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> I challenge them to tell the world why? I will be releasing a more detailed statement in due course.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">
Meanwhile, I intend to explore all internal avenues of the House to
brief my colleagues in detail and testify against Speaker Dogara, Deputy
Lasun, Whip Doguwa and Minority Leader Leo Ogor on why they should
resign.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> If I am not allowed to exercise my privilege, I shall
consider legal options. I can no longer bear the brunt of abuses and
baseless allegations keeping quiet all in the name of “confidentiality”
expected of an appropriation chairman.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> I will not allow anybody
no matter how highly placed to destroy my life as intended by the full
statement of Speaker Yakubu Dogara.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> Now Nigerians will see
clearly the ulterior motive behind the desperate moves for immunity for
principal officers of the National Assembly.</span></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_0e0wg2BCpgkftLf9w6I18eUIkZQdeYY_W94j8sJw2mrlw081Jp9vA-7feNAFjG5oWBTlcx1vLA2Vng22mx-jriRQPJ2oJBehSEL4SQMjzsJmZfCJ1LrGvucxQ-g7jh9JKUHq-Sh4rE8/s1600/Tiwa+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_0e0wg2BCpgkftLf9w6I18eUIkZQdeYY_W94j8sJw2mrlw081Jp9vA-7feNAFjG5oWBTlcx1vLA2Vng22mx-jriRQPJ2oJBehSEL4SQMjzsJmZfCJ1LrGvucxQ-g7jh9JKUHq-Sh4rE8/s640/Tiwa+2.jpg" width="425" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Where Tiwa Got it Wrong… Was when she believed she was the one.<br />
There you go.<br />
I’ve said it.
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Before you judge me for judging a woman for a man’s mischief, I implore you to read on.<br />
By now so much has been said about the explosive social media storm Tee
Billz’s posts online stirred that many may think there is nothing new
under the sky to say about the erstwhile couple.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Many think pieces have run up countless column inches in the Nigerian
papers and online – on anything from Tee Billz’s alleged depression and
suicide attempt to his financial troubles, from Tiwa’s epic fail of an
interview following the news of the breakdown of their marriage to Tee
Billz’s epic failure as a husband.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Perhaps one fault that we all failed to pick, amongst Tiwa’s many
other faults we ripped apart over the last two weeks, is where she had
it all wrong – when she believed she was the one.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In last week’s, in my opinion, half-baked and ill-judged interview
with Pulse Nigeria, Tiwa clearly admitted people had warned her against
Tee Billz.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Deep inside, behind the steely exterior, we are all girls fed on
fairy tales. While no grown woman would ever entertain the thought of
being misled by Cinderella or Rapunzel, there is a little girl in all of
us who secretly still believes in the presence of the knight in shining
armour as much as she does in the possibility of happy ever after.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg12cNuO_2RQeZ7icenV8owraHat8V35IacXXH67RVEXDFEab40uVhngPWWyoynSuagadXBs1-TdRBDNbJSJqYv6cJKtLDjJ1csQnDNF4AozP1guQ7b8VkWxDt0vIBonTYIhW3J_iQGJe4/s1600/Tiwa.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg12cNuO_2RQeZ7icenV8owraHat8V35IacXXH67RVEXDFEab40uVhngPWWyoynSuagadXBs1-TdRBDNbJSJqYv6cJKtLDjJ1csQnDNF4AozP1guQ7b8VkWxDt0vIBonTYIhW3J_iQGJe4/s400/Tiwa.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While no longer damsels in distress awaiting rescue, we still hold on
to the mirage of being the one to change the “fine and troubled
prince”. If you for a minute shelf the Grimm Tales and turn to Hamlet,
you will find that literature warns of a watery end to such mighty
delusions. Even then, in as much as we refute Cinderella, we all revert
to Ophelia.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Tiwa is not the first, neither will she be the last. Look around you,
how many stories have you been told or personally witnessed of women
exploited, manipulated and abused by their men. And it is often women
who we always thought as strong, self-assured and confident.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In complete contrast to the knight in shining armour who swoop in to
rescue the damsel in distress there are predatory men in this world,
sadly, who are wolves in sheep’s clothing who scarper in to chip away,
tear apart and break down strong women. Flip the story of ‘the one’ who
will love, cherish and honour their woman, that one true love leading to
the happy ever after, those broken men women feel they are ‘one’ to
change, tame, save a broken man.</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A broken man can come in various forms – different devils, same old
BS. A broken man is sometimes the serial cheater, sometimes the
incurable alcoholic, or the goofing gambler. His brand of poison may be
drugs or sex, his weakness his lack of direction, his appetite for
women, his need for absolute power. His conditions many and way too
complicated for this space or my basic grasp of basic psychological
ailments.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Heard of the man who can’t help cheating on his wife?<br />
The one who has stolen from his own wife to entertain another woman?<br />
How about the one who reduces his woman to a shadow of her former self with his constant bullying?<br />
The one who spends the baby’s food money on gambling?<br />
The one who plays mind games with his woman to assert his power?<br />
The one who tears into his wife at every opportunity whether it is over
the way she mispronounced a word or the way she fails to make jollof the
way his mother makes?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
How much of the above have we heard Tiwa mention about the erstwhile
love of her life? How many more men out there who fit the bill? It is
only that the other Tiwas and their suffering go unseen, unheard,
unreported.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We often focus so much on domestic abuse that we miss the fact that
there are other forms of abuse sometimes far more harmful to a woman’s
wellbeing and her self-confidence. Which is what such men prey on. Their
modus operandi? Find an independent woman, court her for a period of
time, once she is hook, line, sinker, the game is on. The manipulation
begins.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
First it may be a throwaway comment.<br />
Or perhaps a twenty-pound note missing from her wallet every now and again.<br />
Then there are the red herrings that the fairytale may turn out a
psychological thriller after all. Warning signs or loud alarm bells,
often ignored as the woman has already fallen prey; she will not hear.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
She thinks she is the one to change him, mend him, save him. She is
his one true love because he has told her so – as he is buying the top
of the range car with her hard earned cash or booking exotic holidays
with the side chick while she is away to have their baby. When called
out or caught out, he will turn the tables against her – accuse her of
jealousy, lack of trust, even of having mental issues, having no
confidence when he is the one who took a complete woman and broke her
apart piece by piece. She will still think that he will change, or that
he is upset, or even that she is the one who has messed up.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What she doesn’t know is she is one of many – lefts bruised, battered, broken once the chips land where they fall.<br />
So there you go.<br />
This is where Tiwa had it all wrong.<br />
She thought she was the one.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Countering Mr Aluko’s claims, a spokesman to the Governor of Ekiti
State, Lere Olayinka, said he was not surprised that Mr Aluko would make
such claims, insisting that he (Aluko) was of an unstable character.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He further claimed that Mr Aluko had been involved in different
crimes, ranging from admission racketeering, issuance of certificates to
students while he was a lecturer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“If he comes here to say some of these things, you should just laugh
it off. He had said it by himself that he was here to say all these
because Governor Fayose did not make him the Chief of Staff. If he
received a call that he had been appointed as the Chief of Staff, he
will come back here to say that all he said was not true,” he stressed,
insisting that people should only be believed if they have integrity.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mr Olayinka further stated that Mr Aluko had appeared before a
Tribunal to say that the election in Ekiti was not rigged, insisting
that the documents presented by Mr Aluko were put together by him.</div>

<em><strong>A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti
State is insisting that the Ekiti State governorship election was
rigged, tendering evidences on how some areas were blocked in the state
during the election.</strong></em><br />
<div class="ad-image">
On Politics Today on Sunday, Mr Tope Aluko gave a breakdown of how
the election was rigged in favour of the PDP governorship candidate, now
Governor, Ayodele Fayose.
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Explaining a process he alleged was used in rigging the election, he
said: “Before the Primaries, we had this believe that because Jonathan
was coming out for second term and because we are going to be the first
election in the south-west, at a meeting, we told him (former President
Goodluck Jonathan) that north-east, north-west and north-central may not
be too sure for him because the Hausas are clamouring for presidency
and that you now have south-east and south-south, you must manage the
south-west”.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It was on the basis of that that we told him that he must manage south-west.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Because of his interest, even before winning the primaries, we did
so many security reports to tell Mr President then that he must make
sure that we manage south-west zone and it was because of that that he
gave us the head of security agencies,” the PDP member said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<strong>‘A Strike Team’</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He further told Channels Television that the Minister for State for
Defence and Minister of Police Affairs were made to give attention to
the election because “we know that APC was everywhere in the southwest
and we must naturally capture part of southwest if we want to balance
what our brothers in the north were likely to bring on”.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mr Aluko had testified at a lower Tribunal held to look into the
election held last year, but he denied saying at the lower Tribunal that
the election was not rigged.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He said that there was an agreement to take out some members of the
All Progressive Congress to ensure that they do not give adequate
support to their members. The incumbent Governor was an APC member.</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“There was a strike team, a mixture of the DSS, military, the mobile police… that is about all.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“We had a meeting at Aso Rock on security and funds. We were given security and funds.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He listed the persons at the meeting to include the
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces the former PDP chairman, Adamu
Mu’azu, Governor Fayose and himself (Aluko).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“At the meeting President Jonathan agreed that if he needed Ekiti, he would support us to ensure that we delivered.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“At the second meeting we had Obanikoro, Jelili, Omisore… It was a
combination of Osun and Ekiti people and they were discussing how we
were going to move to take the south-west.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Before the primaries, His Excellency, Ayodele Fayose, said that we can only win using the military.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Then we came up with a plan about May,” he alleged.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When asked if his revelations were not a betrayal to Governor Fayose,
who was his ally, he said there were not a betrayal, insisting that
Governor Fayose betrayed him first after they swore by the bible on some
agreements reached.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“We swore on the arrangement that we had before we embarked on the political venture.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<span style="font-size: small;">The Central Bank of Nigeria says the recently introduced N50 stamp duty
for all deposit transactions will not be collected for Payments of
salaries and wages as well as payments and deposits for self-to-self
transactions whether inter or intra bank.</span>
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
This clarification was made in a statement sent out by the Director
Corporate communication of CBN, Mallam Ibrahim Mu'azu yesterday January
21st.</span>
<span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-size: small;">The management of the apex bank had on Monday January
19th sent out a circular to all Deposit Money Banks and Other Financial
institutions titled, "Collection and Remittance of statutory charges on
receipts of Nigeria Postal Service under the Stamp Duties Act”,
mandating it to collect N50 stamp duty for deposit transactions.</span>
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
The N50 stamp duty is being introduced to help increase the tax revenue
of the Federal government. Part of the statement released by the CBN
Director of Corporate Communication's reads
“The implementation of the Stamp Duty at this point in time emanated
from a Federal High Court order that the CBN should direct deposit money
banks under its supervision to commence the collection of the duty on
behalf of the federal government.</span></div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-size: small;">Consequently, the money deposit banks have been directed to commence the
collection of the duty. Banks are to collect the N50 stamp duty and
remit same to the Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST) on behalf of the
customer.</span>
<span style="font-size: small;"><br />
The N50 stamp duty is charged per transaction and NOT per volume. Hence,
irrespective of the amount, the sum of N50 is to be charged provided
such a transaction is N1,000 and above. There are however some
exemptions and these include payments of salaries and wages, payments
and deposits for self-to-self transactions whether inter or intra bank
among others,’’ the statement said. </span><br />

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered that the leader of
the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu be remanded in Kuje
prison pending his trial for treason.<br />
Justice John Tsoho gave the order after listening to Mohammed Diri,
counsel to the Department of State Services (DSS), and Chuks Muoma
(SAN), counsel to Kanu. Muoma had argued that the accused person be
remanded in prison custody away from the cell of the DSS. He said that
his client had been kept incommunicado in the custody of the DSS for
three months. He therefore asked the court to send the accused person to
prison so that his family could have access to him. Diri, however,
prayed the court to keep Kanu in the custody of the DSS for security
reasons. But the judge ruled that the defendant be kept in the custody
of the Nigeria Prison Service, Kuje. Kanu arrived at the court a few
minutes past 9am looking unkempt. </div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
On December 23, 2015, he had refused
to take his plea before Ahmed Mohammed, justice of the federal high
court, Abuja, citing lack of confidence in the court. This was after
Adeniyi Ademola, another justice of the federal high court, Abuja,
ordered the DSS to release him unconditionally, and after a chief
magistrate court discharged and acquitted of charges of criminal
intimidation and ownership of unlawful society.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">President Muhammadu Buhari</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There was panic among corrupt incumbent and former government
officials Tuesday after news filtered in that President Muhammadu Buhari
has signed agreements with the United Arab Emirate on repatriation of
stolen funds and extradition of culpable officials. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Mutual Legal Assistance on Criminal and Commercial Matters, which
will allow the UAE government return monies hidden or invested in banks
and real estates in the country, was among a series of other bilateral
agreements signed by the President’s delegation, which was in the
country for the World Energy Forum. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Other agreements signed with the government of that country included:
Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement, Agreement on Trade Promotion
and Protection, Judicial Agreements on Extradition, Transfer of
Sentenced Persons.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
PREMIUM TIMES learnt that three of these agreements – the Judicial
Agreement on Extradition, Transfer of Sentenced Persons and Mutual Legal
Assistance on Criminal and Commercial Matters – are particularly giving
those who may have hidden their ill-gotten wealth in the country a lot
of worries. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to multiple security sources, as the news of the signing of
the agreements broke, some ex-officials started making frantic efforts
to either escape from that country or relocate their slush funds out of
the reach of the government. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The UAE has become a Mecca for Nigeria’s wealthy who are drawn by the
expensive high rise properties, glitzy malls and ritzy hotels in the
oil-rich country. </div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A security source who has been investigating the pattern of Nigeria’s
investment in the country told PREMIUM TIMES that at least $200 billion
allegedly stolen from the country’s treasury by former government
officials is believed to have been stashed in banks and invested in
properties in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, two of UAE’s most prominent cities</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With the signing of the agreements the government can now actively
demand the repatriation of funds hidden in the country by convicted
former officials as well as demand the extradition of other Nigerian
fugitives residing in the country.<br />
Before now, the UAE was a fortress of some sort for corrupt government officials escaping justice at home.<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Federal Government has alleged that
55 former government functionaries and top businessmen stole N1.34tn
from public treasury in eight years.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Minister of Information and Culture,
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made the allegation at a press conference to
announce a National Sensitisation Campaign against Corruption in Abuja
on Monday.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although Mohammed did not disclose the
authority for the allegation, he categorised the officials involved in
the corrupt practices to include former state governors, ex-ministers,
former legislators, civil servants, bankers and other businessmen.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Different government agencies, including
the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences
Commission, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Department
of State Services and some ad hoc committees have been intensely
involved in one investigation or the other since President Muhammadu
Buhari assumed office on May 29, 2015.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mohammed said, “The situation is dire
and the time to act is now. Between 2006 and 2013, just 55 people
allegedly stole a total of N1.34tn in Nigeria. That’s more than a
quarter of last year’s national budget.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="color: blue;">“Out of the stolen funds, 15 former
governors allegedly stole N146.84bn; four former ministers allegedly
stole N7.05bn; five former legislators allegedly stole N8.35bn; 12
former public servants, both at federal and state levels, allegedly
stole over N14.18bn; eight people in the banking industry allegedly
stole N524bn; while 11 businessmen allegedly stole N653bn.</span></b></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“What do these figures translate to in
the actual sense? In other words, what is the cost of these stolen funds
to Nigerians? Using the World Bank rates and costs, one-third of the
stolen funds could have provided 635.18 kilometres of road; built 36
ultra-modern hospitals, that is one ultra-modern hospital per state;
built 183 schools; educated 3,974 children from primary to tertiary
level at N25.24m per child; and built 20,062 units of two-bedroomed
houses.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“This is the money that a few people,
just 55 in number, allegedly stole within a period of just eight years.
And instead of a national outrage, all we hear are these nonsensical
statements that the government is fighting only the opposition or that
the government is engaging in vendetta.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He urged Nigerians to get involved in the war against corruption.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Fresh facts have emerged in the case of extradition between Ogun
State senator, Prince Buruji Kashamu and the National Drug Law and
Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as the United Kingdom government has
expressed its own findings through a letter it recently wrote to
Nigeria’s inspector general of police, Mr. Solomon Arase.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The NDLEA had last month invaded the Lekki home of Senator Buruji
Kashamu, wanting to extradite him to the United States of America in
order to face drug offences in the US District Court in Chicago,
Illinois being presided over by Judge Richard Charles Norgle.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, after placing Kashamu under house arrest for about five
days, Justice Buba ordered the NDLEA officials to vacate his house. He
also ruled that the drug agency’s boss should appear before him
immediately to explain why the agency violated an earlier order which
said that all parties involved in the case should not take any action
until the court says so.</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Explaining its own findings to IGP Solomon Arase through the British
High Commission in Abuja in a letter dated April 27, 2015, the UK
government said that it is no longer interested in any matter concerning
Kashamu, having discharged him in 2003.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The letter which was signed by Mr. Robert Hunter, a Police Advisor of
the High Commission in Abuja and addressed to ‘Solomon Arase, Inspector
General of Police, Force CID Headquarters, Garki Area 10’ also
disclosed that the accused person is not wanted in connection with any
other offences within the UK jurisdiction.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The letter, a copy of which was exclusively obtained by our
correspondent through a dependable source at the UK Home Affairs in
London, also disclosed that the British Magistrate who freed Kashamu in
2003 did so when he was not satisfied that there was a case for him to
answer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The letter added that this was why the United Kingdom authorities had
decided to cancel the extradition request they received from the United
States Justice Department.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“I understand that the US authorities are seeking his extradition but
can confirm that we have no current interest in this matter and he is
not wanted in connection with any other offences within our
jurisdiction”, Robert Hunter said in the letter.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In a related development, our correspondent also gathered that the
International Police (INTERPOL) had earlier cancelled the arrest warrant
it imposed against Buruji Kashamu immediately it discovered that the US
authorities had at the end of August, 2008 withdrawn their own Search
Warrant.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But the US is insisting that Kashamu is the same person as Adewale
Kashamu wanted by its security agents in connection with the trafficking
of heroine into America for several years up till 1994. The NDLEA had
also said that the US had sent a request to extradite him to face the
charges.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">He took the make-believe industry by storm with his Casanova role in a TV soap in the eighties and he happens to be the first actor to clinch a top political appointment as a commissioner, so he deserves a round of applause. And in the congregation of the gigolos, oh! he is an elder. Some blessed with details said he married his late first wife who was obviously older than him because of her wealth. After the death of the first wife, he married a young broadcaster who was then working with a private television. But prior to that time, he was having flings with the wife of a former Lagos State governor whose tenure ended the military-interregnum. What is left to be confirmed is if he has now relented in the act, but we doubt it.</span></span><br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">He’s an actor who is known for his tough lover role in most films. Known for his American accent, this dude has virtually dated all the big girls in the industry. He was at a time said to be dating the daughter of a former vice-president. He also dated a radio presenter who later took her war with him to the air when he chose to end the relationship. At a time he was also accused of abandoning his father and siblings who they claimed live in abject poverty. At a point, he was romantically linked to a Jamaican babe. The dark-skinned, fiery-tempered actor, known for his knack for anything in skirts, has suddenly graduated from romancing young babes to older women. He was at a time said to be warming the bed of a popular bishop whose husband died years ago in the south-south, while he enjoyed material things in return. News filtered out when one of the sons of the respected bishop caught the actor pants down with his mother in his late father’s house. He has since then been linked with many older women.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">This is a story of an actor in the Yoruba genre. Though he is versatile in his acting, he likes playing traditional roles such as a herbalist, and he is young, ranked to be at the age of 40. This Tapa-born dude from Kwara State got married years back to a much younger sultry lady. But it was a shock when news filtered out that the marriage crashed. Since then, many have been longing to know the latest in his marital life. However, in the course of trying to get an update on his marital life, we were reliably told that the actor has joined the league of guys dating older women in the country; a move some said might have destroyed his marriage as story has it that he was having an affair with an older woman speculated to be in her 50s. She is an hotelier around Ijaiye Ojokoro area in Lagos. It was revealed that though she is married to one businessman, she is so in love with the actor to the extent that she satisfies him with whatever he wants.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">He’s a fair skinned actor who had at one time hosted a television reality show for a beer manufacturing company. This tall and good looking former screen god who now sells sex toys is a toast of many ladies in town.;</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">It is therefore not a surprise that the fair skinned young man that comes from the eastern part of the country caught the eye of this very strong female politician from one of the south-south states in the country. Though he’s been said to have been from time having affairs with different big women in the society, it was his affair with the female politician who at a time was at the forefront of those clamouring for a certain set of people fighting another country from taking over the ownership of their land. This young man’s relationship with the very influential woman who had held elective and appointive political posts in the country in the past is an open secret to all in the society. Though the two hardly go out together, those in the know stated that the young man at a time lived in the woman’s Lagos home for some time before getting his own. Though the two have gone their separate ways, the guy is rumoured to be seeing another high brow woman but the two are keeping that a secret at the moment.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">Invariably the very best music act of this generation, he has so many awards to his credit and he has a talent in the act of putting ladies in the family way. These, apart from the musical talent, made him a household name. He is a Nigerian music star that can feature in just anybody’s song, as he is also criticized for not being able to speak fluent English. He has under his belt endorsements for many local and multi-national companies, one of which is the advert he did for a beer making company, for which he was paid in foreign currency. This young man that hails from the middle belt area in the country was at a time said to be dating a very wealthy Ghanaian woman who in turn spoiled him silly with money and other material things. But the relationship may have crashed because of his flings with younger women , with him impregnating more than a couple of them.</span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The pastor in charge of Hepzibah Assembly of all Nations
International, located at 2 Arogbo Lane, off Odunbaku Street, Iju
Ishaga, Pastor Solomon Eze, 32, a native of Eka, Delta State, southsouth
Nigeria, has been sent to prison for indecently assaulting an 11-year
old girl in Iju Ishaga, a suburb of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Pastor
Eze was alleged to have told the mother of the victim that there is an
arrow of death in her house and she must move out to avoid death.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The
woman moved into the church with her children to stay and Pastor Eze,
according to the complainant, indecently assaulted and also impregnated
her 11-year-old daughter.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Trouble started when the
woman noticed some strange behaviour by her daughter who complained of
stomach pain and showed signs of malaria.</span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">According to
the mother, she contacted a nurse who then treated her for malaria, but
the sickness continued until she underwent a scan and it was discovered
that she was pregnant.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">When the mother asked who was
responsible, she said it was Pastor Eze. It was discovered that the girl
was two months pregnant and when pressed further, she revealed that
Pastor Eze gave her holy water to drink and also gave her a red
substance to rub on her face.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">She added that she became unconscious only for her to see Eze atop her. <div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The
matter was reported at Iju Police Station and after investigation
Pastor Eze was arraigned at a Snr Magistrates’ Court, Abule Egba.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The
prosecutor, Inspector Rachael Williams, told the court that sometime in
August, 2014, Pastor Eze unlawfully and indecently assaulted the victim
by forcing her to drink what he described as holy water and gave her a
red substance that looked like blood to rub on her face.</span></div>
<div class="p1" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">He
pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge and the presiding

<div class="first" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="line-height: 1.538em;">The
dissolution of the marriage between Christ Embassy Church founder,
Pastor Christian Oyakhilome, and his wife, Rev. Anita Odegwa Oyakhilome,
has entered the final phase, TheCable can report. </span> <span class="ds-1col file file-image file-image-jpeg view-mode-embedded centered clearfix block-story-object block-story-object-resource block-story-object-resource-image"><span class="block-story-object-asset"></span><span class="block-story-object-content"><span class="block-story-object-content-header"><span class="block-story-object-content-header-description"> </span></span></span></span></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The wife is seeking divorce on the grounds of “unreasonable
behaviour” and “adultery”. She outlined several allegations against the
pastor which TheCable cannot publish for legal reasons. The divorce
case, with Suit No FD14D01650, was filed on April 9, 2014 at Divorce
Section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn,
London, UK, on Anita’s behalf by Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors, a
full-service law firm with expertise in commercial law and a strong
consumer focus in family, wills and estate, personal injury law and
medical negligence.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Efforts to reconcile the popular couple, whose church is one of the
biggest denominations in Nigeria and has branches all over world, have
failed. They have two teenage daughters, Sharon and Charlyn. Oyakhilome
is the president of Believers’ Love World Inc, the registered name of
the Christian ministry, while his wife is the vice-president. The
pastor, according to an elder of the church, has denied allegations of
adultery and believes his wife is being influenced by “bad friends” who
are intent on destroying their home. While Anita believes she has been
relegated in the scheme of things in the church, her husband has
reportedly accused her of trying to usurp power and authority above her
seniors in the ministry.</span></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Sources told TheCable that the pastor had been making efforts to
avoid divorce in the hope that the wife would eventually have a change
of mind. However, TheCable can also report that the decree nissi was
served on the charismatic pastor in his hotel room during a recent visit
to the UK. Decree nissi, in legal terms, is like a yellow card in a
football match which is a precursor to a red card (“decree absolute”) if
no new evidence is provided to stall proceedings. Church insiders said
Oyakhilome had been hoping for rapprochement, but he was left with no
option than to receive the papers when the lawyers cornered him at his
hotel in London. The decree absolute, which will effectively end the
marriage, is expected to be issued soon while terms of the divorce will
be worked out by the lawyers on both sides.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">TheCable learnt Anita recently wanted to go public with the details
of her allegations against the husband but reached an informal agreement
to sheathe her sword in the interest of the church. Oyakhilome is
regarded as one of the richest and most influential pastors in Nigeria,
and co-authors the fast-selling Christian daily devotional, Rhapsody of
Realities, with the wife. However, following the strain in the marriage,
the wife had been complaining to friends that her husband had stopped
the payment of royalties due her from the devotional literature. “She
complained of being deliberately starved of funds, perhaps to bring her
to her knees in the belief that she would eventually return to her
matrimonial home and mend things,” a church member told TheCable in the
UK.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">A wealthy Zimbabwean businessman, who is into telecoms, is one of the
biggest financiers of the London branch of the church which Anita
pastors along with other branches in Europe. When the crisis got to a
head, the Zimbabwean stopped funding the church ─ some said in
solidarity with Oyakhilome, his close friend and neighbour in
Johannesburg, South Africa. However, Oyakhilome was said to have been
shocked when the wife announced at a fundraiser that she was sowing a
“seed” (donation) of $1 million ─ despite her assumed lack of access to
funds. Matters got to a head on Sunday, July 13, 2014, when some
relatives of Anita locked up the London branch of the church to protest
against the “humiliation” being meted out to their sister ─ who had not
overseen services at the branch since November 2013.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Some church members had sometime in May 10, 2014 launched facebook
campaign, asking: “Where is Rev. Anita Oyakhilome?” They said Pastor
Chris and Rev. Anita must unite “for the sake of the gospel, the church
and their two beautiful daughters”. They quoted Malachi 2:16 in the
Message Bible: “I hate divorce, says the God of Israel.” The facebook
page, which has over 3,300 “likes”, was opened with a stated mission:
“This is a Call to Prayer for all believers who understand God’s heart
concerning marriage and a Call to Action by Pst. Chris.
#DoWhatYouPreach”. Officials of the church quickly moved to deny any
rift between the pastor couple. One official, Kenneth Achumasara, told
the media last June: “I can tell you authoritatively that there is no
issue between Pastor Chris and his wife, Anita… If you go to the UK now
you will see her along with the kids. She is still with him and there is
no issue between them. I have been with him for 22 years and the Pastor
Chris I know cannot even utter such words as reported. He will never
address such a gathering. She will soon be in Nigeria for a programme
and I will definitely invite you to have access to her.”</span></span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">ISIS militants yesterday released a video showing them executing about
300 Syrian soldiers they captured near the Tabqa air base as the
soldiers attempted to flee the
fallen air base in Raqqa, Syria.</span></span><br /><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">
</span></span><br /><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">
They stripped the soldiers down to their briefs, took them to the
desert, lined them up and executed them. Then hours later, they posted
another video showing captured Kurd fighters wearing orange prison
uniforms. This time they executed only one....beheaded him on video
(pictured right)...while warning the Kurds to break from their alliance
with the US government against the caliphate or face more capture and
executions.</span></span><br /><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">
</span></span><br /><span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"><span style="font-size: small;">
Islamic State also threatened
America in the video, warning them to cease its support of the Kurdish
people or they will continuing beheading prisoners, including Americans.</span></span></div>
