Don Jazzy And D’banj: What's Really Cooking?

For Don Jazzy and D’banj, they may be friends but that will not stop them from thinking differently both as business partners and otherwise. As it seems now however, they might be going their separate ways soon. Anthony Ada Abraham takes a look on their journey so far and some reactions from fans.
Music has the ability to altar your mood, action and emotion whether you like it or not, entertainment is as old as humans.
Music is something we cannot do without because one way or the other we sing or listen to music consciously and unconsciously.
And for some of the hit makers, doing it with extreme passion like the duo, D’banj and Don Jazzy, music has been a thing of joy to them.
Before uniting to form one of the best music label group in Nigeria , Michael Collins Ajereh nicknamed Don Jazzy , a multi award-winning record producer, singer-song writer founded Mo' Hit in 2004 with his first signing D'banj who also became the Vice-President of the label.
These young business minded artistes have been working together for long and nothing has come in between them. Even the rumour that spread like wild fire stating that Don Jazzy and D’banj were arrested in the United States  for alleged drug trafficking did not deter them .
This rumour which was aimed at painting an evil picture of the artistes but they never separated which led to a press conference to refute the accusations.
Everyone knows how Don Jazzy and D’banj have been working hard to take the Nigerian entertainment forward, beyond our borders.
As they continue their journey to fame and fortune, they were rated as "most powerful celebrities in Africa" according to Forbes report which received lots of accolades from far and near.
Don Jazzy's first full credit production work was in 2004 on Tongolo for Nigerian singer D'banj. He went on to produce D'banj's first studio album titled No Long Thing released in 2005.
The news making rounds that the most celebrated and successful musical marriage in the history of Nigeria’s entertainment ended on a sour note with the separation of multi-awards winning musician, D’Banj and his producer cum partner Don Jazzy is fresh in the minds of the people.

As it was reported, details of the love gone sour affair between the two who were also co-owners of Mo’Hit Records remained unclear.
A very close link to the record label’s manager and promoter, Mr. Sunday Are, who claimed ignorance of the development, said: “I have just arrived from Ghana where I took one of my artistes, Omawunmi, on tour. I will get back to you as soon as I settle down and I am in touch with the duo.”
It was also gathered that M.I. who is unhappy with the news making rounds said: “I hope it’s not true. It will be very sad if it happens. These two are very generous people who have helped many up coming musicians (like me for instance) to find their feet.
They have also helped to reposition the entertainment industry. One cannot over look the contribution these two have made to the Nigerian entertainment industry. It will be too sad if what you are saying is true.”
When LEADERSHIP spoke to some notable artistes in the industry about the recent development, they were shocked to think such could happen to guys who they thought are taking the country music to another level.
The duo who got signed by Kanye West’s GOOD music in an all-time recording breaking deal worth $3million, may find it difficult to cope together if it is concluded true. And the development might affect the deal.
Calls to D’banj and Don Jazzy are not going through since the incident. But on twitter, fans have continued to interact on the development:
