An indictment filed against a
37-year-old man on Wednesday charges him of severe acts of violence
against his wife including biting off part of her ear. He is charged
with aggravated battery and false imprisonment. The Haifa District Prosecutor's Office motioned to extend his remand until legal proceedings against him are completed.
According
to the indictment, late last month the couple got into an argument
during which the husband pressed his wife to the floor "and began biting
her face a great number of times."
According to you Jewish news, he did this after locking the house door. The defendant prevented his wife from getting up even as she bled and cried in pain.
He continued to press down and bite his wife's ear, ignoring worried neighbors' knocks on the door, until part of it fell off. He later threatened the woman with a butcher's knife.
The
two struggled, causing the knife to break, as the husband tried to
strangle his wife. The prosecution is claiming that the defendant also
used a rope to whip the woman after she managed to free herself from his grasp.
