A
Nepalese man who stands no taller than a newborn has been declared the
world's shortest man in history. Chandra Bahadur Dangi, 72, earned the
title with a height of 54.6 centimeters (21.5 inches), Guinness World
Records announced yesterday Sunday, 26th Feb.
Previously, Khagendra Thapa Magar, with a height of 26 inches ( 67
cm), was declared the world’s shortest man on October 14, 2010. However,
he lost the title to Junrey Balawing of the Philippines on June 12,
2011.
Seventy-two-year-old Dangi remained in anonymity until recently in a remote western part of the country.
“Until now, Dangi’s stature was a burden, but now he hopes the title will change his fortune,” official website of Guinness World Record said.
Dangi, from a remote village in Dang, was born in Salyan as the fifth son. He has never had any health problem so far. All his siblings and family members are of average height.
