BREAKING NEWS: CHIEF AKIN OMOBORIOWO IS DEAD

Akin Omoboriowo was a Nigerian lawyer and politician who was Deputy Governor of Ondo State, later switching parties and being elected Governor of Ondo State during the Nigerian Second Republic. His election as governor was disputed and later reversed by a court of appeal before he could take office.
He became Pro-chancellor and Chairman of the governing council of the University of Ado Ekiti.
Second Republic Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Chief Akin Omoboriowo, has  died of complications from prostrate cancer.

Family sources told The Eagle Online that Omoboriowo, who died at St. Nicholas Hospital, Lagos, on Tuesday, had internal bleeding last week as a result of complication occassioned by the prostrate cancer.
It was learnt that the plan by the family was to fly out Omoboriowo this week for further medical attention.
Survived by five children and a wife, Omoboriowo is from Ijero-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
