It was gathered that the self-styled Paramount King of
Music, Abass Akande Obesere, (aka Papa Tosibe) on Easter Sunday survive a car accident in Ijebu Ode, Ogun
State. Obesere was reported to be returning to Lagos around 8:30pm from a
performance engagement in Ijebu Ode when his driver, Femi, lost the
control of the Lexus jeep LX470 and careened into the bush where it
rammed into a tree. Though all the occupants of the jeep – four of them –
including the musician were injured, no life was lost. After getting
first aid treatment in a nearby hospital, they were moved back to Lagos
on Monday and are currently undergoing treatment at Orisunmade Hospital,
Jakande Estate, Isolo, Lagos.A report after the accident stated that Obesere debunked insinuations
that his driver must have been drunk. “Femi doesn’t take alcohol and
when we go to shows like that I always give him time to rest and he
doesn’t partake in our music performance. I was even having a phone call
with my eyes gazed at him when the jeep swerved into the bush. It was a
terrible occurrence, but I thank God that nobody died.”
Accidents are unpredictable incidents that often finish up in injuring or more individuals who are present at the site.
