Ivory Coast’s President Ouattara heads ECOWAS

Ivory Coast’s President Alassane Ouattara has been chosen  "unanimously” to lead the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), this was said before the close of the two -day meet by the the body’s outgoing chairman, Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria.
His nomination to head the 15-nation bloc was described as a move to show support for Ivory Coast, still emerging from a brutal post-election crisis.
 The president was quoted as saying “Through this election, you once again show the support of our organisation to Ivory Coast in its efforts at reconciliation and reconstruction,”
The New ECOWAS Leader (President Ouattara) is married to a Frenchwoman, Dominique Folloroux-Ouattara, and has two children from a first marriage.
