Following a newspaper report (not P.M.NEWS) that WAEC has
distanced itself from the WAEC certificate being paraded by Governor
Gabriel Suswam of Benue State , the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN,
Benue State chapter, has called on Governor Gabriel Suswam to honourably
resign as governor of the state.
The State Chairman of the party Comrade Abba Yaro maintained that they are vindicated in their claims that the governor
is parading forged certificate and is not fit to hold the office.
Comrade
Yaro urged Suswam to hand over to his deputy Chief Steven Lawani,
pending the determination of the legal battle between ACN and PDP at the
Apex Court
Yaro’s call is coming against the backdrop of a
publication in a national daily where the Head of Legal Department of
WAEC Mr. K.U. Anyim addressed a letter to Police Special Investigation
Unit Force Headquarters, alleging that certificate number NGSC 854210
allegedly belonging to Suswam is not in their records.
The letter
was tendered before a Magistrate’s Court Wuse 2, Abuja and marked as
exhibit D in a libelous suit instituted by Governor Suswam against
Chidozie Okpabi, Dan Ekah and others.
WAEC also presented a
broadsheet which they claimed contained Suswam’s results as follows:
English Language P7, Lit. in English A2, Bible Knowledge P7, History C6,
Geography A3, Economics C5, Maths F9 and Health Science C5.
It
was alleged too that Suswam as member of House of Representatives used
letter head of House Committee on Appropriation and addressed a letter
dated March 16th 2005 to Sonnie (Chidozie) which read: “Sonnie ensure
that English and Maths have at least credit each and also ensure that
the number is maintained.”
“We are vindicated by our stand that the man does not possess any certificate. He should just honourably resign,” Yaro said.
When
asked to comment on the call by the ACN that Governor Suswam should
throw in the towel as the Governor of Benue State, Special Adviser to
the Governor on Media and Public Affairs, Dr Cletus Akwaya simply said
“No comment.”
