Sequel to yesterdays BREAKING NEWS on the death of the Ekiti State National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) Mr Ayo Afolalu, here is an update on the story.
The Ekiti State (Fountain of Knowledge,) was, on Tuesday, thrown into mourning when the president
of National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in the State,
Mr Ayo Afolalu and others were killed in a ghastly road accident.
It was gathered that Afolalu and the
others were on their way to Benin City, the Edo State capital when the
incident occurred somewhere along Benin to Ore Road.
The information has it that a truck carrying timber ran into the Honda
Accord they were traveling in, adding that they were all killed at the
scene.
Mr Ayo Afolalu and the others were said to have left Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti
State capital, on Tuesday morning at the same time with a delegation of
the women’s wing of the union.
It was also gathered that the chairman of the Ekiti State
chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr Ayodeji Aluko, said he
had been informed of the incident, adding that the NULGE boss died in
the auto crash.
He also said that a truck carrying timber crushed into the NULGE chief’s car and killed the occupants.
According to him, their remains had been deposited in the mortuary of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH).
