Kris Humphries apparently thinks that 72 days of his time is worth almost a year's salary.
It was gathered that the 27-year-old NBA player and his attorney have had a "generous" divorce settlement in their laps for several months—but they've yet to sign the paperwork and officially end Humphries' marriage to Kim Kardashian because they're thinking they could "get him even more money."
Neither Humphries' personal rep nor his attorney has responded to
requests for comment, and a call to Kardashian's divorce lawyer has not
yet been returned.
Well, how much does Humphries, who inked a reported $8 million
contract to resign with the New Jersey Nets for the 2011-12 season, want
as a parting gift?
A source close to the negotiations said that Humphries' price tag is $7 million, and the current offer on the table is less.
"Kris is dragging it out," the source says. "Kim is ready to move on,
but Kris is hoping that stretching it out will get him even more
money."
While Humphries claimed in an interview with Life & Style
that he has made no particular demands, E! News has been told that the
power forward approached her with the $7 million in mind, in exchange
for his silence and promise to never talk publicly about their ill-fated
union.
"Kim never considered signing something like that," our insider says.
"Kris can't take the time to consider [her] offer, but he finds time to
do an interview with a tabloid magazine."
"There is a fair offer on the table," the source says, "but he just won't sign it."
Kardashian filed for divorce on October 31, 72 days after she swapped
vows with Humphries in a lavish ceremony in Montecito, Calif
