A Pregnant woman died as vehicle knocked down a commercial
motorcyclist (okada) which was conveying her this morning in Shasha area
of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.
According to eye witness, the
driver of the vehicle was receiving calls inside the vehicle while
driving and lost control, thereby hitting the okada rider. The rider’s
legs were broken and was rushed to Igando General Hospital.
The
okada rider, identified as Mr. Azubuike, but popularly known by okada
riders as Water, resides at Sunny Street, Jaiye-oba, Shasha area of
Lagos State. The chairman of Okada Riders Association, Shasha Branch,
Mr. Joseph who spoke with P.M.NEWS at the scene of the incident
said: “I saw the driver making calls as he was driving. He later lost
control and crossed to the the other lane and hit the okada who was
coming from the other side of the road. When I rushed there, I
discovered the okada man is my cousin.” Laptops, soft drinks, wallet and
table water were in the car.
The driver of the vehicle has been taken to Idimu Police Station for interrogation according to PM News.
